Abalone confiscated in Pearly Beach

Two alleged abalone poachers were arrested by the Task Team members of Overstrand Municipality while conducting boat patrols in Bloubaai, Pearly Beach.

The estimated street value of the 403 seized abalone is ± R120 000. Diving equipment belonging to the suspects were also confiscated.

The men were taken to the Gansbaai Police Station and charged under the Living Marine Resources Act which includes the protection of wild abalone and being in possession of diving gear in a listed area.
